In 2016, a planned concert by Selena Gomez in China was canceled by Chinese authorities.
The reason was a photo of Selina Gomez with the Dalai Lama from 2014.
In order to continue to be represented in the huge Chinese market and thereby earn millions, Selena Gomez could have apologized to China, as many other Hollywood celebrities have done in comparable cases.
A good example of such submission is the wrestler John Cena, who, after portraying Taiwan as an independent country and being attacked by China for it, immediately did a 180° turn and apologized 1000 times in a message in Mandarin for this unforgivable act, as you can see from the following excerpt from an article by The Guardian.
John Cena ‘very sorry’ for saying Taiwan is a country
“I made a mistake, I must say right now. It’s so so so so so so important, I love and respect Chinese people,” Cena said to his 600,000 fans on his Chinese Weibo account. “I’m very sorry for my mistakes. Sorry. Sorry. I’m really sorry. You have to understand that I love and respect China and Chinese people.”

Not so, however, Selena Gomez.
To this day, Selena Gomez has not justified or apologized to China, Selena Gomez obviously cares more about behaving with morals and ethics than the many millions of dollars she has lost in the Chinese market since 2016.
Kudos Selena!
